In contrast to \"classical\" computers, as we use them every day, information is not stored in bits (binary in 0 or 1), but in so-called qubits. Qubits can assume several states at the same time. Think of the famous example of \"Schr\u00f6dinger's cat\", which is dead and alive at the same time.<br>Another important principle on which quantum computing is based is quantum entanglement, in which the qubits remain connected over long distances.&nbsp;<br>Together, these two principles make it possible to process information much faster and more efficiently than with conventional computers. And this could not only <a href=\"https:\/\/it-teams-global.de\/en\/2024\/12\/03\/it-trends-the-10-most-important-technologies-of-the-future-you-need-to-know-about\/\">IT industry<\/a>but also fundamentally revolutionize numerous other industries and areas. Just like the first classic computers did.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What are the challenges of quantum computing?<\/h2>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The development of quantum computing is still in its infancy and brings with it a number of challenges. The biggest challenge is certainly the enormous technological complexity: quantum computers require special environments, such as extremely low temperatures, in order to function stably. This makes them extremely expensive to manufacture and operate. They can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.handelsblatt.com\/technik\/forschung-innovation\/zukunftstechnologie-erster-quantencomputer-fuer-weniger-als-eine-million-euro\/29362330.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">cost several million euros<\/a>even if there are supposed to be some \"cheaper\" options for less than one million euros.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>As this is a very new and not yet fully mature technology, there are no standardized approaches to how quantum computing should be applied. This makes integration into existing IT structures more difficult. However, this will certainly develop over time.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Quantum computing as a solution for the future<\/h2>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Despite the challenges, quantum computing offers enormous potential for overcoming previously unsolvable problems. Quantum computing with its quantum computers shows particularly promising approaches in the following areas:<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><p><\/p>\n<li><strong>Cryptography<\/strong>Quantum computers could crack existing encryption methods, but also develop unbreakable encryption. They can do this because they can solve problems much faster than conventional computers.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li><strong>Optimizations<\/strong>This is also associated with the optimization of logistics, energy supply or traffic control, for example, through quantum computing.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li><strong>Artificial intelligence<\/strong>The field of artificial intelligence can also benefit considerably from quantum computing, as AI can now process a very large amount of data much faster and learn from it.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>In short, everything that can be done with conventional computers is carried out many times faster and more precisely by quantum computers. It is obvious that this brings enormous advantages.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Companies such as Google and IBM, as well as German research institutions, are now working on advancing and developing quantum computing so that it can be integrated into our everyday lives in the not-too-distant future.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What are the advantages of quantum computing?<\/h2>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The key advantage of quantum computing is the enormous increase in efficiency already mentioned: it enables faster calculations and solutions to be found for complex problems. For example, a quantum computer recently calculated a problem for which the best supercomputers in the world <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamestar.de\/artikel\/qunatumcomputer-durchbruch,3424337.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">would take longer than the entire existence of the known universe<\/a>!
